TENS Unit Conductive Gel

TENS Unit Conductive Gel
Details:
The formulation is synthesized using Reverse Osmosis (RO) purified water to establish a clean solvent baseline. To achieve clinical-grade conductivity, specific inorganic salts (chlorides) are titrated into the mixture.

A cross-linked polyacrylic acid (carbomer) is introduced to build a stable thixotropic viscosity, ensuring the liquid does not run off vertical body parts during treatment. Crucially, the compound is processed through high-shear vacuum homogenizers.

This negative-pressure environment mechanically rips microscopic air bubbles out of the polymer matrix. Air is a dielectric insulator; removing these voids guarantees an uninterrupted 100% contact area for the electrical vector.

OEM TENS Unit Conductive Gel | Electrolyte Paste | TOP-RANK

B2B TENS unit conductive gel. Formulated with precise chloride electrolytes and high-shear vacuum degassing to eliminate transdermal air gaps and prevent micro-arcing under carbon rubber electrodes.

Product Overview

This conductive gel is a highly viscous, aqueous electrolyte medium engineered specifically for electrotherapy. It serves as an active ionic bridge between non-adhesive reusable electrodes (carbon film or silicone rubber) and the patient's stratum corneum. By flooding the microscopic topography of the skin, the gel neutralizes electrical resistance, allowing milliamperes (mA) from the TENS/EMS pulse generator to transfer smoothly into the underlying motor nerves without thermal point-burning. We supply this consumable in bulk and retail formats to physical therapy networks, chiropractic clinics, and medical hardware OEMs.

Key Features

  • High-Molarity Chloride Conduction

Pure water does not conduct electricity efficiently. Applying a non-conductive medical lube or standard ultrasound gel to a TENS pad creates a high-impedance barrier. The host MCU will register a fault or output a harsh, stinging sensation as the voltage struggles to cross the barrier. This gel is saturated with highly mobile chloride ions. These electrolytes physically carry the electrons from the carbon electrode directly into the tissue, maintaining a mathematically flat resistance curve below 50 Ohms and delivering a smooth, shock-free therapeutic pulse.

  • Micro-Arcing Elimination

Reusable rubber electrodes possess a microscopic porous texture. When strapped dry to the human skin, millions of microscopic air gaps remain between the rubber and the epidermis. When current is applied, it takes the path of least resistance, funneling into the few points of actual physical contact. This focal density causes micro-arcing, physically burning the skin. The 50,000 cPs viscosity of this gel acts as a liquid shim. It floods every microscopic void, displacing the insulating air and distributing the milliampere load equally across the entire surface area of the pad.

  • Carbon-Lattice Preservation

Clinical physical therapy pads are manufactured from conductive carbon-infused silicone or rubber. Exposing these expensive pads to petroleum-based lotions or lipid-heavy creams causes the rubber to swell, crack, and permanently lose conductivity. This TENS gel formulation is 100% aqueous (water-soluble) and entirely lipid-free. It provides the necessary conductive coupling during the 45-minute therapy session but wipes completely clean with a damp towel afterward, leaving zero corrosive residue and preserving the hardware's lifespan.

Applications

Clinical Reusable Electrodes

The primary coupling medium for thick, non-adhesive carbon-rubber pads strapped to patients in high-volume physiotherapy wards.

Internal EMG/TENS Probes

Provides low-impedance electrical mapping and necessary lubricity for pelvic floor stimulation and biofeedback probes.

Hydrogel Pad Rehydration

A thin layer can be smeared over standard solid hydrogel patches that have dried out, temporarily restoring their ionic conductivity and extending their usable life by 3 to 5 cycles.

OEM & Private Label

  • Viscosity & Humectant Tuning : The base formula can be customized with elevated propylene glycol ratios to drastically slow evaporation rates for clinics running prolonged 60+ minute continuous stimulation protocols.

  • Logistics Routing : Reverse-osmosis water purification and vacuum chemical compounding execute in our China vats. Automated cleanroom tube filling (e.g., 250ml squeeze tubes) and 5-liter bulk jug palletization are routed through our Vietnam hub to manage supply chain continuity and optimize global medical liquid import tariffs.

Certifications

  • Biocompatibility : Chemical matrices and final filled batches are stringently tested against ISO 10993-5 (Cytotoxicity) limits to ensure safe, prolonged contact on human epidermis without cellular degradation.

  • Systems : High-shear mixing, filtration, and volumetric tube filling operate strictly within audited ISO 13485:2016 and MDSAP regulatory frameworks.

FAQ

Q: Can this TENS conductive gel be used for diagnostic ultrasound imaging?

A: Absolutely not. Ultrasound probes use sensitive piezoelectric crystals protected by a rubber acoustic lens. This TENS gel contains high concentrations of chloride salts required to conduct electricity. These salts are highly corrosive to ultrasound equipment and will permanently damage the transducer. You must use a salt-free acoustic couplant for ultrasound.

Q: Does this gel act as an adhesive to stick the carbon pads to the skin?

A: No. While the 60,000 cPs viscosity gives it a thick, slightly tacky feel, it is not a structural glue. It is a conductive coupling fluid. Carbon and silicone rubber electrodes must be secured against the skin using physical medical tape, elastic velcro straps, or conductive garments.

B2B physical therapy distributors and electrotherapy hardware brands can request 250ml tube prototypes and electrochemical impedance documentation.
